Paul Ranger deserves a look. He's been steady and has NHL experience.

I'm starting to believe that we may not get a season in. I think there is too much animosity and if the players union drops the decertification bombshell, then the owners should put their final offer on the table and a hard deadline. Since the PA is desolved, any player can decide to sign on to the new CBA. If more then half sign on the dotted line, then the majority of the rest will follow. It would be insane, for the bottom half of the roster players, to not sign on the dotted line. It's their careers and the Sid Crosby's and the Shea Weber's don't care about what happens to them. Time for the lower end of the PA to speak up and put an end to the top 10% of players, their player agents and their lackey, Donald Fehr ruining their careers.

If the players/union disband, then there is no CBA and the matter will probably be in the court system. Either way, no union, no CBA. Besides, how can there be a new CBA. Collective Bargaining Agreement. There has been no agreement.

No matter how this plays out, the top players will come out on top and the 4th liners will get the short end of the stick. Justifiably so. They get paid for their talents. Those who have the most talent will make the most money, and the average guys will fair pretty decent too. The rest? They'll take anything they can get.

Gunner Phaneuf

Gardiner Kostka

Liles Franson

Reimer
Scrivens

*Id roll with kostka since hes doing very well in the marlies, especially with gardiner on some shifts and line ups. Even Aucoin id give a chance for the first game since hes doing well, for the 4th line of the leafs.

Switch Kulemin and Mac around and that Defensive Core isn't very defensive or speedy except for Gardiner, Liles and Gunner. Not Sure if Kadri will start either has he snapped out of his funk?

That's not how that works... If the players dissolve they do not sign an CBA, they sign an individual contract with the team. There can be no CBA without a union.

Kulemin makes more sense as a 3rd liner.

Kostka is quick.

Kadri has been playing very well. Improving D (Never really was an issue)

How is a training camp going to work with the AHL season running?

It seems to me they can't invite too many guys, or the Marlies won't have enough bodies.

I'm going to throw this out there.........

Dougie Hamilton is at best a 3 or 4 defensemen. For the past couple of years i've heard all the hype. i watched him very carefully during this tournament. He will struggle in the NHL. Big time.

Revisiting the Kessel trade. It basically works out to Kessel for Seguin and a bottom pairing defensemen.

As of right now, unless Hamilton proves me wrong. Leafs won that trade.

You will only see the max of 30 guys at camp. That's including the likes of Reily and Biggs. 5 guys max from the Marlies will be invited. Gardiner, Kadri, Frattin, Holzinger. Scrivens, only if the Luongo trade isn't completed by then.

Hamilton is a trainwreck on the larger ice..... his game plays more to the smaller ice, with bigger stronger players. Based on this tourny, maybe..... but not his play the rest of the time. He was better last year on smaller ice (at a younger age).

I think it's going to be really small..... only guys under contract one way maybe?? They are only allowed 2 CHL prospects.

I think since they've been following the AHL more closely they;ll know who's ready, who can fill holes ect.

Nope. Only allowed 2 CHL callups. Leafs have already committed to Rielly and Broll.

Scrivens will have to be (if he's still in organization) as he's on a one way. When lockout ends he's in the NHL. Cannot stay in AHL

Burn,

I think he will struggle in the NHL. Players are faster and stronger. He looks lost out there and out of position too many times.

Perhaps with proper coaching he can overcome these. But anybody thinking that he steps into the NHL and becomes an instant top 4 pairing is sadly mistaken.

You're right. They did commit to Broll and I forgot about Scrivens situation. If we get Luongo then either Scrivens or Reimer needs to be moved out or we maybe lose them through waivers

Spott was also horrible. Spent too much time trying to line match and it bit him in the ass.
